How to turn SEO Autopilot modules on and off step by step

  1. Open your workspace at autopilot/app.html?client=your-slug and click the Modules tab.
  2. Confirm the top banner says the backend is connected - toggles are disabled if it can't reach your config.
  3. Flip the edge modules you want live: AI visibility (schema), internal linking, and page-speed run automatically once on.
  4. Turn on Content refresh only when you want drafts queued - nothing publishes until you approve it in the Approval queue.
  5. Mark Backlink building active to track it as a managed service; it is off-platform, not an automated injection.
  6. Save, then open the Change log to confirm each toggle was recorded, and check Measurement for the before/after.

What each module actually does

Three of the six modules run at the edge, which means they change the HTML that Google and answer engines receive without touching anything you can see. AI visibility adds structured data - LocalBusiness and FAQ schema plus llms.txt signals - so search engines and AI assistants can read your business details cleanly. Internal linking connects your service and location pages with contextual links, which helps both crawlers and customers find related pages. Page-speed optimization lazy-loads images, sets safe decoding, and keeps your largest content element from blocking, all of which feed into Core Web Vitals.

The two modules that work differently

Content refresh is the one module with a hard approval gate. When it is on, it fetches a page, drafts a stronger meta description or FAQ, and files that draft as a pending item in your Approval queue. It never edits your live page on its own - the approval setting is forced to manual and cannot be flipped to automatic. That is deliberate: auto-publishing AI edits is how wrong facts, wrong prices, or wrong service areas end up on your site. Approve a draft and the edge serves it on the next request, with no redeploy.

Backlink building is a managed service, not an automated injection. Links are earned off your site by our team, so there is nothing to inject into your HTML. The toggle simply marks the service as active in your workspace so you can see it running. We keep this honest rather than dressing up outreach as an automated feature.

When to switch things on

No. The edge modules add or adjust behind-the-scenes signals - structured data, internal links, image loading and meta tags - in the served HTML. Your visible layout, copy and branding stay exactly as you built them.

Does Content refresh publish edits automatically?

Why is the Backlink building toggle different from the others?
