More people are asking a voice assistant or ChatGPT to find a local business than ever before, and most business owners have no idea whether they'd even come up. Siri, Alexa, Bing Copilot, ChatGPT and Gemini don't search the web like Google does - each one leans on its own directory, or in the case of the AI chatbots, its own trained judgment about who's worth recommending. If you've only ever optimized for Google, there's a real chance you're invisible to several of these at once. SEO Autopilot's Voice & AI Visibility check tells you exactly which ones can find you, and which ones can't, in plain language. No guesswork, no inflated scores - just what's actually there.

Ranking on Google doesn't mean Alexa has ever heard of you.

Why one Google ranking isn't enough anymore

Every voice assistant and AI model pulls from a different underlying source, and most of them have nothing to do with your Google ranking. Google Maps, Google Assistant, and Google Nest speakers all read from your Google Business Profile - so if that listing is thin or unranked, all three go dark at once, not just one.

Siri and Apple Maps read from Apple Business Connect and the Yelp data Apple licenses. Alexa reads from Bing Places for Business and Yelp. Bing search and Bing Copilot read straight from Bing Places. None of these check your website's SEO directly - they check whether you exist, correctly, in their specific directory.

ChatGPT and Gemini are different again: they don't query a live directory at all. They answer from what the model already knows and has been trained to trust, which means the only honest way to check is to ask them directly and see if your business gets named.

What the Voice & AI Visibility check actually does

This isn't a simulated score. The tool runs three real checks in sequence for your business.

First, it does a live Google Maps lookup to confirm your Business Profile is present and where it ranks. Second, it runs a real web search for citation coverage - looking for actual links to your Yelp, Apple Maps, Bing Places, Facebook, Foursquare, YellowPages, BBB, and Tripadvisor listings, if they exist. Third, it asks the AI model directly whether it would recommend your business for a realistic search, like "best plumber in Dallas," and records whether and where you're named.

Reading your results

You'll get a 0-100 visibility score and an overall verdict - something like "Broadly discoverable," "Partly discoverable," or "Hard to find." Below that, each assistant gets its own card showing whether you were found and why.

A card might say "Reachable via Yelp (Alexa's local data)" if your Yelp listing is solid, or "No Bing Places listing found" if that directory has never heard of you. The tool never guesses or rounds up - an assistant is only marked Found if the actual data source it reads from genuinely lists your business. If it's not there, the card says so plainly.

Most businesses that run this for the first time discover they're fully missing from three or four of the six-plus channels checked, usually the ones they never thought to set up in the first place - Bing Places and Apple Business Connect are the most commonly skipped.

What to do with a low score

The fix depends on which card is red. If Google-based assistants are missing, the problem is your Google Business Profile - completeness and ranking, not your website. If Alexa or Bing Copilot are missing, claim and fill out Bing Places for Business, since that's the one directory most businesses forget entirely. If Siri or Apple Maps are missing, claim your listing in Apple Business Connect directly.

If ChatGPT or Gemini simply don't mention you, that's the hardest one to move quickly - it comes down to consistent citations, reviews, and web presence over time, not a form you can fill out today. Fixing the directory-based assistants first is the fastest way to move your score, and it's usually where the easiest wins are hiding.

FAQ

Does this tool call Siri, Alexa or ChatGPT's actual APIs?

No - none of those assistants expose a public API for this. Instead, the tool checks the real underlying data source each one reads from (like your Google Business Profile or Bing Places listing), and for ChatGPT and Gemini, it asks the model directly whether it would recommend your business for a realistic search.

Why would my business show up on Google but not on Alexa?

Alexa doesn't read your Google Business Profile at all - it reads from Bing Places for Business and Yelp. A strong Google ranking has no effect on Alexa if you've never claimed your Bing Places listing.

What's the fastest way to improve a low score?

Start with whichever directory-based card is marked Missing, since those are the most straightforward fixes. Claiming and completing a Bing Places for Business listing, or an Apple Business Connect listing, often moves the score within days once the listing is indexed.

Can the score go down over time?

Yes. If a directory listing lapses, gets flagged, or your business information becomes inconsistent across citations, an assistant that previously found you can stop recommending you. Running the check periodically catches this before it costs you leads.

Is this the same as normal SEO?

It overlaps but isn't identical. Traditional SEO focuses on ranking in web search results. Voice and AI visibility depends on being correctly and consistently listed in the specific directories each assistant actually reads from, which is a distinct - and often neglected - checklist.
